Pakenham Racecourse Tips

Pakenham Racecourse is located in Tynong, Victoria, at 420 Nar Nar Goon-Longwarry Road. In 2015, it moved to Tynong. There is a turf course as well as a synthetic track.

The Track

Pakenham Racecourse has a 2,400-metre-circumference track and a 480-metre-long home straight. It boasts two long straights that are well grassed and irrigated. Because of the two long sweeping curves, most starters benefit from inside barriers.

The Tracks History

The Pakenham Racing Club operates the racecourse, which was formed in 1875.

Since its foundation, the Club has updated its facilities and raised racing standards on numerous occasions.

At Pakenham Racecourse, about a hundred trainers and owner trainers prepare their horses. Most have small teams, with larger district trainers able to train at the Cranbourne training centre.

Ray Webster was the most successful trainer, winning the Melbourne Cup with Dark Felt in 1943 and the Caulfield Cup with Counsel in 1944. Another member of his squad, Nethergold, finished second in the 1959 Melbourne Cup.

Racecourse Parking

Membership grants access to the Members’ Car Park near the events facility. Parking is available. Passes are sent with membership packs and must be attached to the inside of a car windscreen before entering the parking lot. Parking is strictly limited and not guaranteed.

Additional intake On special race days such as Pakenham Cup Day, Members Carparking will be provided.

The disability parking spot is near the main gate in front of the Members Carpark.
