Rosehill racecourse plays host to racing in Sydney this weekend, with the running of the Group 1 Golden Rose, supported by the Group 2 Shannon Stakes, Group 2 Golden Pendant, Group 3 Colin Stephen Quality and the Listed Heritage Stakes.
The rail is in the true for the entire circuit and with rain forecast in the days leading up to and possibly on race day, expect the track wet.

BALLINDERRY SAL has been priced nicely and should be forgiven after her last start effort in the Highway race behind SUPER NORWEST.
She was wide without cover for the majority of the event, but still managed to finished 5.5 lengths off the winner, and she kept finding.
Extra 100m and a much better gate, she looks a beautiful bet early on in the piece.

FIRST LIGHT looks over the odds slightly and has improved with each run this preparation.
He comes into this fourth-up, drops to 54kg with the rise in class and has drawn well.
MATUSALEM obvious danger and favourite, getting the same drop to 54kg, though you would think they want the rain away for him.

Dislike this race.
FIRESTORM on top following her brilliant win first-up. Issues are the way she maps plus she is 0/3 second-up.
LINCOLN ROCKS is about the right price, as is LAUDING

Two horse race in my opinion between GATSBY’S and BODYGUARD.
GATSBY’S has 2 runs under his belt this time in, and was a bit disappointing behind STORM BOY second-up, but J Mac suggested he needed a softer track which suits here.
Depending on the conditions, the draw may be an issue but he comes through the best races and faces a much easier field here.
BODYGUARD is looking for an Everest spot, so you expect them to have him wound-up here and he would need to put these away in my opinion to be a contender.

Gee I reckon this girl is placed really well.
SEMANA ran a huge first-up in the Winx Stakes, finishing 1.3 lengths off VIA SISTINA AND 0.8 lengths off FANGIRL.
She drops back to a Group 2 and Fillies/Mares grade which is a massive plus, considering she placed in Group 1 Fillies/Mares in the Autumn/Winter behind ZOUGOTCHA and BELLA NIPOTINA.
Amazing form, drawn well and should be hard to beat.

Feature race of the afternoon, the Golden Rose.
BROADSIDING is a horse that has a lot of swagger and he looks to have been trained to the minute to be competitive her first-up.
He showed last preparation that any wet tracks were no issue winning the Champagne Stakes and the distance poses no issues.
He will have to defy history, but I am confident he is going to be very competitive.
LINEBACKER is the other who had the flashing light run in the Run To The Rose. Unlike BROADSIDING, LINEBACKER has a run under his belt.
He also handles the wet, after taking BROADSIDING to the wire in the Champagne Stakes after beating him the start prior.

Not very confident in this race.
CELESTIAL LEGEND goes on top, but I have rated it $7.00 the field.
He was just fair behind some of these last start, but gets conditions to suit being up to 1500m and the ground having some sting.
He will have to slog the 59kg again which might be a query if that was an issue last time out, especially if he still isn’t wound up enough fitness wise.

Our Best Bet once again comes up in the last this week.
This is a perfect race for PHARARI. Her one blemish was in a Listed race up the Flemington straight where she still ran credibly without winning.
Prior to that run she won by 8 lengths and 5.7 lengths and since that run, she opened up her campaign with a 2.7 length win at Sandown.
This is nice placement, she has shown she can handle the conditions, albeit in weaker grade and she has drawn well to get the ideal map.
