Randwick racecourse plays host to racing in Sydney this weekend, with the running of the Group 1 Metropolitan, Group 1 Flight Stakes and the Group 1 Epsom Handicap, supported by the Group 2 Premiere Stakes, Group 3 Gimcrack Stakes, Group 3 Breeders’ Plate and the Listed Dulcify Stakes.
The rail is in the 3m mark for the entire circuit and the weather is looking beautiful this weekend, so that track will be a Good 4.

Won’t be betting into this one.
EXTREME FREEDOM and FLYING BANDIT look the two I would have in the top 2 following their efforts a fortnight ago in the Midway behind El Castello
Numbers: 6 – 11 – 13 – 5
12:40pm
Distance: 1000m | Class: 2YO C&G Grp3 | Exp Tempo: Mod – Fast
First of the two two-year-old races this afternoon, both will be watch races.
NORTH ENGLAND looks impressive in his trials, happy for him to be on top from stablemate TUSCANY
Numbers: 5 – 10 – 8 – 4
1:15pm
Distance: 1000m | Class: 2YO Fillies Grp3 | Exp Tempo: Mod – Fast
Second of the two-year-old races, this one for the fillies.
ICARIAN DREAM was an eye-catcher in the trials and gets a nice draw.
O’OLE is second pick, drawn poorly though.
Numbers: 9 – 8 – 3 – 12
1:50pm
Distance: 1600m | Class: 3YO Listed | Exp Tempo: Mod – Fast
JUST PARTY brings in the A1 form here. He finished 0.8 of a length off LADY SHENANDOAH and less than that off MAYFAIR and SNACK BAR in the Group 3 Ming Dynasty.
The draw is perfect, the step up to a mile looks ideal (3rd to Broadsiding over the mile last prep) and Josh Parr sticks.
DEPTH OF CHARACTER is the other, who is coming back from Group 3 level where he was just fair after missing the kick, which seems to be a common theme for him.
That’s the risk really, and probably why we are getting a price, but this is a highly winnable race and his form last preparation goes close to winning this.
Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 3
2:25pm
Distance: 1600m | Class: 3YO+ BM94 | Exp Tempo: Slow – Mod
Chris Waller holds the key here, with his two runners being 1-2 in the betting and I believe they are the ones likely to take this out.
SNOWMAN gets the nod in a race that is lacking in any serious speed, and from the draw, he definitely will be somewhere near the front.
He is now third-up, loves the Randwick mile and the winkers going on looks a nice gear change.
CHICA MOJITO ran a peak first-up, running second to stablemate FIRESTORM. She jumps up in grade and down in weight which does look a winning formula, though after running so well first-up, I am predicting a slight dip here second-up. Still expecting her to run well though.
Numbers: 10 – 12 – 6 – 7
3:00pm
Distance: 1600m | Class: 3YO Fillies Grp 1 | Exp Tempo: Mod
With AUTUMN GLOW out, SNOW IN MAY looks the way to play this one.
She was tremendous behind AUTUMN GLOW last, running well against the pattern and even was held up in the straight. She still managed to finish 1.2 lengths off the winner.
She looks like she will get a nice run throughout this one and looks the one to beat.
LAZZURA and LADY SHENANDOAH the obvious dangers.
Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 6
3:35pm
Distance: 1200m | Class: 3YO+ G2 | Exp Tempo: Mod
This is one of the most intriguing races of the afternoon with what has transpired during the weeks in regards to the Everest.
BELLA NIPOTINA was immense behind I AM ME, who has since franked the form and secured a slot in the Everest. She ran very well against the pattern of the day and a repeat performance will see her going very close once again. She is just so consistent.
GIGA KICK was brilliant first-up after a long break with injury. He has since trialled well which is why he is the price that he is. Will there be a 2nd-up hangover after such a long time off the scene? Maybe, but he is all class.
I expect these two to be at the forefront of this race and discussions after this one.
Numbers: 7 – 1 – 2 – 3
4:10pm
Distance: 2400m | Class: 3YO+ Grp 1| Exp Tempo: Mod
Deep race this one, but ETNA ROSSO looks the value bet.
His win in the Newcastle Cup was very good and should take even more improvement into this one.
He is a proven distance runner from overseas, so 2400m at Randwick shouldn’t pose any queries, he will just need a comfortable run in transit to be a chance her at the low weight.
ZARDOZI back into handicap conditions, low weight and 2400m all work in her favour.
FUTURE HISTORY next best.
Numbers: 13 – 10 – 11 – 15
4:45pm
Distance: 1600m | Class: 3YO+ G1 | Exp Tempo: Mod – Fast
CEOLWOLF was fantastic in the Kingston Town but just found one better in ELIYASS.
If he can improve on that effort, it’s his race to lose but that’s the query. I am not overly a fan of the change of jockey (probably needed to happen) but from the draw, I am sure Chad will give him plenty of room entering the straight.
MAJOR BEEL faces an uncontested lead (hopefully) and with no weight and third-up, could be hard to run down.
DETONATOR JACK is back to handicap conditions and is a massive price. Worth a chance.
Numbers: 7 – 12 – 3 – 2
5:25pm
Distance: 1200m | Class: 3YO+ BM94| Exp Tempo: Mod – Fast
The top 4 picks here should produce the winner.
MORAVIA won nicely going back in grade last start and coming into this third-up from a nice draw and slightly up in grade, gives me the indication that he is in for another big run.
BRIASA gets a run and is going for 5 on the trot as they keep stepping him up in grade. The draw doesn’t help but Zac Lloyd riding and a low weight gives me confidence.
OSTRAKA was massive first-up, a repeat performance has him going close.
CORNICHE is over the odds. Trialled up well, gets the claimer on, good draw and a nice drop in grade. Goes okay fresh.
Numbers: 5 – 21 – 4 – 1
The Quadzilla
Leg 1: 1 – 7
Leg 2: 3 – 10 – 11 – 13 – 15
Leg 3: 2 – 3 – 4 – 7 – 12
Leg 4: 1 – 4 – 5 – 21
