Flemington Race Tips & Analysis for July 20, 2024

Michael Kruse 20 July 2024 Last Updated: 20/07/24

The Flemington racecourse is rated a soft 6 at the time of writing but there is rain due today and could very well get to a heavy 8.  The rail is out 3m for the entire circuit.

30km/h westerly winds (head wind down the home straight) will be a test for most, especially those leading the pack. Look for horses that can get cover and have great stamina.

Today’s Flemington racing tips can be found below,

Best Bet

Race 7: 2800m – Expected Tempo: Average

#3 SPEYCASTER

Surely SPEYCASTER is winning this? Happy to be in his corner, has upside, loves the conditions, Lane on.

Next Best Tip

Race 5: 1400m – Expected Tempo: Strong

#5 LOVAZOU   Scratched.

Can continue on his winning ways here.

Believe he has some improvement to come, and maps quite well, can just tuck in behind the leaders and pounce on the turn.

Best Each Way/Roughie

Race 4: 1600m – Expected Tempo: Strong

#4 SPANISH TIDES

A field full of apprentices so i couldn’t go silly on any at the top of the market even though i rate Arqana highly who looks the winner.

What i was surprised to see, is the odds of #4 SPANISH TIDES being so high. Ill most certainly have a bit of that. Get’s the right conditions here 2nd up.

Other Thoughts/Value Selections

Race 1: 1800m – Expected Tempo: Above Average

Very interesting little race here, i think on paper #2 POLITELY DUN l& #3 RED ACRES look the winner.

Both want this distance and look to get the softer run over the fave Stay Silent.

I don’t want anything to do with the leaders in the race, especially with the wind.

Selections: #2 POLITELY DUN & #3 RED ACRES will entertain a small bet on #5 EVERGRANDE if the parade is strong.

Race 2: 1700m – Expected Tempo: Above Average

No real firm opinion in the race, looks pretty wide open with a stack of chances.

Gun to our head? I’d look for some value in #1 ORION THE HUNTER, #14 CAPTAIN ELECTRIC, #15 CASTLE ON HIGH,

Selections: No bets at the time of writing, will update our Twitter/X page if we do.

Race 3: 1000m – Expected Tempo: Average

Field does look quite strong, First Settler looks a quality colt. But so many unknowns with the conditions and a few first starters engaged i thought #7 NEBUCHADNEZZAR was sneaky roughie that could bob up at a price if it gets wet. Ran a great race behind Boltsaver who came out and won well on Wednesday.

1000m could suit, most likely faces the breeze on the outside rail but that will be the position to be at least, great odds to find out.

Selections: #7 NEBUCHADNEZZAR (each way)

Race 4: 1600m – Expected Tempo: Strong

A field full of apprentices so i couldn’t go silly on any at the top of the market even though i rate Arqana highly.

Was surprised to see the odds of #4 SPANISH TIDES being so high, ill most certainly have a bit of that. Get’s the right conditions here 2nd up.

Selections: #4 SPANISH TIDES (each way)

Race 5: 1400m – Expected Tempo: Strong

#5 LOVAZOU can continue on his winning ways here.

Believe he has some improvement to come, and maps quite well, can just tuck in behind the leaders and pounce on the turn.

One that doesn’t exactly get the best map from the gate but has a massive chance is #15 DIADAMO

2nd start, up the 1400m, doesn’t hate the conditions. Tick.

Selections: #5 LOVAZOU & #15 DIADAMO

Race 6: 1200m – Expected Tempo: Fast

Gee this looks like a ripping race, can Baraqiel continue on his winning ways and keep his mind on the job? The outside barrier is certainly going to help.

Legio Ten was huge in that race and presents some value here over the fave.  Will most likely let this race go through to the keeper and enjoy the spectacle.

Selections: No bets at the time of writing, will update our Twitter/X page if we do.

Race 7: 2800m – Expected Tempo: Average

Surely #3 SPEYCASTER is winning this? Happy to be in his corner, has upside, loves the conditions, Lane on.

Selections: #3 SPEYCASTER

Race 8: 2000m – Expected Tempo: Below Average

Super tough race, could back half the field but will reside with #1 SMOKIN’ ROMANS

Taking a chance on him to bounce back to his best.

Selections: #1 SMOKIN’ ROMANS

Race 9: 1000m – Expected Tempo: Average

Does Big Me handle the conditions? I’m not sure. Could very well come out and blow this field away.

Ill take a punt on a few at odds and hope Big Me fails.

Selections: #7 WAVERIDER BUOY & #13 AMIGO & #10 MOONHAVEN

Quaddie Bet
