Eagle Farm Racecourse Info & Tips

Eagle Farm Racetrack

Eagle Farm Racecourse, established in 1865, has its racing roots in the early colonies, with the first people travelling to the track to take a punt on the horses. Eagle Farm Races has welcomed thousands of racegoers and hosted the finest thoroughbreds in Australia for almost 150 years.

The picturesque grounds include Victorian and Federation-era heritage buildings, magnificent wrought iron and timber grandstands, renovated betting auditoriums, and ornate iron gates and pillars. The facility has world-class facilities and over 35 function spaces, with the Guineas Room, Tote Room, and Society Rooftop being the most popular.

The Tracks History

Eagle Farm Racecourse was founded in 1863 and is Brisbane’s main racecourse.

The Paddock Stands were designed by the architecture duo Hunter and Corrie and architect John H. Buckeridge in 1889-1890. Stables and sheds were also designed by the duo.

The racetrack was taken seized by military officials in 1941 to lodge thousands of American troops during the Pacific War. It was known as US Camp Ascot at the time.
