Tonight is the second meeting of the Hong Kong Racing season, with the first meeting at Happy Valley under the lights. The rail is in the ‘A’ Course which is the True position for those who are unfamiliar.
The start of the season has so many unknowns and it generally takes a month or so before form lines really begin to form, so early on will be a test and we will be keeping an eye on trainers who get their horses fighting fit early.

Best Bet

Gone with the Danny Shum runner for the best bet of the evening, as I reckon he will have this lightly race 3yo ready to go.
He was a nice winner two starts ago over this track and distance before overdoing it in his last race of the season, running a bold fifth. He looks in good order based on his one trial this time in, and the rider upgrade tonight should be beneficial in helping the horse settle.
He has a great draw to camp just behind the speed, we just need the momentum and luck rounding the home bend.

Could have easily made this the value bet on the card, but this sets up too well for him.
In 19 starts over this course and distance, SUGAR SUGAR has run top 3 on 11 occasions, winning 5 of them, so he is no stranger to these conditions. I love the booking of Ellis Wong who will claim 3kg on him, to bring him down to a manageable weight.
There looks to be plenty of speed with the likes of KA YING CHEER, HAPPY FAT CAT, MEGA BONUS, SUPER JOY N FUN and ONE FOR ALL, all possibly vying for the league, so he should get aa dream run from barrier 3.
He looks a great chance.

Going with the double play here, as I have decided to oppose the $1.50 favourite.
AURORA LADY has come up the second favourite and he gets a really nice draw with progression on his side. He ran second on debut to the talented BOTTOMUPTOGETHER before having excuses when seventh to FAST NETWORK. He then drew poorly in his Happy Valley debut, still running boldly in third. A nice draw tonight sees him get a nice run throughout, and should have some fitness after his two nice trials.
FAIRY HORSE is massive odds. You could say he is those odds due to his numbers in the form guide, but since running at Happy Valley he has gotten better and better, and finally draws a nice gate. I do prefer AURORA LADY but this guy deserves a speck in a small field.
