Moonee Valley Race Tips & Analysis for August 10, 2024

Michael Kruse 9 August 2024 Last Updated: 10/08/24

The Moonee Valley racecourse is going to be run on a soft 5 i think, currently a soft 6 at the time of writing but there is drying conditions.

Going to be a big watch on the track and how it’s going to play after so much time off, looks an absolute treat though from the photos.

Will treat with caution and not go overly silly.

Today’s Moonee Valley racing tips can be found below,

Best Bet

Race 6: Distance: 1000m | Class: 3YO OPEN | Scheduled: 3:15pm | Expected Tempo: Strong

#12 BIG ME

Thought the FU run here in AUS was full of merit.

Untested on the trying conditions and looked to just peak on his run in the final 50m.

Had a spin around the Valley early in the week and from all reports he looked outstanding.

Will stalk this hot tempo and pounce.

Think he is destined for much better things then this crop. Keen.

Next Best Tip

Race 2: Distance: 1000m | Class: 3YO OPEN | Scheduled: 12:55pm | Expected Tempo: Solid

#2 BLUE STRATUM &#9 MISS COTOLETTA

What a tough race, plenty of speed on here.

Who can sustain it and capitalise on it?

I thought #9 MISS COTOLETTA was a great chance to improve here.

Should plenty at Moe last time out, was a liked about it is that she was 3 wide the entire race just about.

Kept finding in the straight and closed off really well.

She could potentially take up the running and say catch me if you can.

Most of these do come out of stronger races and the odds show that.

#2 BLUE STRATUM is another one i want to back, smart colt for the McEvoy stable.

Has raced is some pretty competitive races and his FU run at Pakenham was fantastic.

Syntho form coming to metro has been huge of late.

Best Each Way/Roughie

Race 1: Distance: 1600m | Class: BM78 | Scheduled: 12:20pm | Expected Tempo: Above Average

#8 PITCHANUN

The day get’s underway with a 1600m race that’s going to be run at an average speed.

Waimarie will most likely take up the lead on the rails with Leivore

I think the race is going to set up nicely for #8 PITCHANUN who can run a race at a price.

Saves her best work for the Valley.

She flopped last start on the heavy and pulled up with the respiratory noise.

So if she’s right to go she will threaten with only 52.5kg on her back.

Other Thoughts/Value Selections

Race 7: Distance: 2040m | Class: BM100 | Scheduled: 3:55pm | Expected Tempo: Above Average

Now this is a pure swing for the fences here, and most likely a silly bet

But i think #6 TOO CLOSE THE SUN is well over the odds at around $71.

Yes he is a 9yo but this race and track might just suit him here 3rd up.

He will make his own luck up on speed and hopefully Willo can press on and make it a true test.

Is he past it? Probably. But surely Ciaron Maher wouldnt press on?

I love #2 SMOKIN’ ROMANS and think Jaylah won’t make the mistake of waiting too long this time.

Bit short though now and this does look a competitive race so i’m just to have a tiny bet on the #6 TOO CLOSE THE SUN for interest.

Selections: #6 TOO CLOSE THE SUN

Race 9: Distance: 1200m | Class: BM100 | Scheduled: 5:10pm | Expected Tempo: Solid

Cracking race this with a stack of chances.

#3 WHY WORRY can be effective back on top of the ground here after flopping at Flemington on the quick back up.

The question is, can he hold on off a hot tempo? Will really need to see how the track is playing, if it’s a leaders/rails day, i’m chips in.

If they break land speed records i thought #4 SHOW SOME DECORUM and #2 RANTING could bob up at a price.

SSD loves the Valley and his trial leading in was promising. Nice price.

Ranting has been running super well and now get’s back around a bend and can spring board these.

Selections: #3 WHY WORRY & #2 RANTING & #4 SHOW SOME DECORUM
