New Racing Queensland CEO, Jason Scott, wants to gain ground on Victoria and NSW in the next six years. The former Ladbrokes Australia boss replaced Brendan Parnell in April and said he would have never taken the post if he didn’t think he could make a difference.

Digital Marketing Opportunities

In a recent interview, Scott, a lifelong sports fan, said he felt enthusiastic about the outlook of the racing industry. He claimed the racing sector had changed a lot in recent years, and a lot of that was down to the opportunities digital marketing offered.

According to the new Racing Queensland chief, digital marketing made it possible for wagering to no longer be confined to the world of racing and sports, but for the doors to open to the general public too.

Scott claimed he was also aware of the pitfalls of the wagering industry developing in this way. He added he would do his best to protect young viewers and was in favour of limiting gambling advertising during particular hours.

The Best is Yet to Come for the Sunshine State

Scott sees himself as “a builder of teams” and not just someone who will have the final say, knowing there are individuals who understand the three codes better than him.

Despite being closer to NSW and Victoria than six years ago, Scott knows there’s still a long way to go. He claimed his goal was to get Racing Queensland even closer in the next six years.

When Scott was appointed as Racing Queensland CEO, Racing Minister Ignazia Graziella said there would be more money and support for country racing. Better infrastructure was also promised. The Racing Minister was happy to work with Scott and make sure the best was yet to come for Queensland.
