The State of Origin game is one of the most famous rugby games in the world. It is played between two Australian state teams from Queensland and New South Wales and usually attracts many fans. The game is known for its intense rivalries and often produces some of the best rugby action in the world.
State of Origin games are typically played over three matches, with each team winning one match resulting in a third game to find an outright winner. However, the game has been played as a single match in recent years. This has led to some exciting finishes and has made the State of Origin game even more popular.
The State of Origin game is a great way to bet on rugby, and there are many different ways to do so. For example, you can bet on the team you think will win or on the individual players you think will have a good game. You can also bet on the length of the match and the margin of victory.

QUEENSLAND vs NEW SOUTH WALES
As I write this, I should be pumped getting myself ready for a massive night at the MCG for Origin 1. Unfortunately, due to COVID, the game has been moved to Townsville. This will be an enormous help to the current champions, Queensland. What a series it should be with the best players from each state lining up in a very even spread of talent across the field. Let’s have a look at both sides and where each team can win or lose the game.
QUEENSLAND
The Maroons have a great side on paper with the Australian halves in DCE & Cam Munster. A strong young forwards pack that will run very hard in the middle of the park & a good mix of outside backs. When you match the sides up, you find a couple of areas where the Maroons have the advantage. The outside back in Coates and felt are great in the air, especially Coates, who will be at least 6 inches bigger than the NSW wingers Addo Carr or Too. If they are going to win this game, they should be bombing top his side. The Forward pack is bigger and stronger than the NSW forwards pack. Fifita & Tino have been scoring for the Titans in club footy. They will run hard all night. While Christian welsh & Jai Arrow are very much underrated by a lot in the NRL.
The Downside I see for the Maroons is discipline. This can be a big problem, with a couple of the QLD forwards being known to be sin-binned for high shots in recent weeks. If this happens, it will be hard for them to defend NSW with a player down. Also, in a couple of spots like full-back NSW have the best players in the comp. The wingers and centres for the NSW are very fast, hard running and creative if they don’t get their slide defence right, they can be beaten for pace on the outside.
NSW
NSW will be coming into this game with a lot of momentum as they have a hand full of players from the undefeated Panthers side, including the unbackable Dally M favourite in Cleary. With a backline that could be one of the best, we have seen in recent years. Including Leading try scorer Addo Carr. The best fullback in the world is Tedesco, Tommy Turbo & Latrell Mitchell. The NSW side shouldn’t have any problems in scoring and getting over the try line. In the middle of the park, they have some blue-collar Forwards that will keep on tackling all day & with Dane Cook at hooker, they could make some very, very quick play the balls getting the Maroons offside. The Cleary Kicking game is also excellent. If he can kick well, they can control field position & then the game.
The main problem I see in the NSW team is the size of the forward’s pack. Personally, I would be playing Paulo in the starting lineup to try and slow down the Queensland pack. Also, the guys on the outside all have an amazing turn of foot & acceleration, but a couple of them are rather small and aerial bombs will be out of the question unless they kick towards the centres. Luai in the halves will be the target for the Queensland players to be running at, and he is rather small in stature, but to bring on jack Wrighton later in the game for him will be a massive boost.
In summary, I see this being a very tight game as most of the games are in the series. NSW has the more explosive talent on paper, but the Queensland side playing at home will always play with more heart and determination. I cant wait to see game one in what will be an arm wrestle until the final whistle, with NSW just getting over the line.
